Challenges: IndigAThon 2021 Wrap-Up

A little belated but it’s time for an IndigAThon 2021 wrap-up!

Last month, Michelle @ Thor Wants Another Letter and Bear @ Et Tu Brody? hosted this month-long readathon all about Indigenous-authored books.

I was reading on the unceded traditional territories of the Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh, and Musqueam Nations, and one thing I learned from the prompts is that I know very few local Indigenous authors! So I’m hoping to be more intentional in seeking their books out in the future.

I aimed high with my TBR with a different title for each prompt and while I didn’t get to all of them, I still read lots of great books and plan to catch up on the remaining in the coming months.

Here’s how I did!

Prompts finished: 5

  • Read a book with Indigenous Joy (Ancestor Approved)
  • Read a host recommendation (Ancestor Approved)
  • Read a nonfiction book (How We Go Home)
  • Read a book by an Indigenous author whose tribal lands you live on (Survival In Its Many Shapes, Tsleil-Waututh author)
  • Read an Indigenous poetry collection (Indigena Awry)

Books finished: 4 (and currently reading one)

Very glad I was able to participate this year and looking forward to reading the rest of my picks, plus all the recs others shared!

Did you participate this year?
What are some Indigenous-authored books you’ve enjoyed?
