Happy October!

Hi all! I felt like doing a quick update because I realized I’d been posting incredibly frequently and then kind of dropped off the map after that last, slightly anxious post.

So, all is good! I’m glad it’s October, even though that’ll mean all my assignments start to creep up, but it feels like this will be a good month. We’re actually getting Fall weather this year (last year we had 30 degree weather through September!) and nothing is better than sweater weather. Though I am upset at the amount of rain my weather app is predicting for this week 😦

New toy 🙂

Things are still pretty hectic but I’m starting to make some sense out of the chaos. There are a lot of great opportunities that are coming out of the things I’m involved in so I’m trying to focus on that rather than how busy I am, and I’m able to multitask with some of my volunteer positions (sitting in a library for a couple hours is a great time to work on my readings for class!).

My fun reading has kind of been falling by the wayside, and likely will stay that way for the rest of the term. I started two books at the beginning of the month, and am enjoying them both, but I’m having trouble picking them back up again (it’s been a couple weeks :/ ). There have been a number of book sales around campus (2 done, 2 to go) and so far I’ve bought 5 books for under $10! I also picked up 2 from the library and got 2 ARCs so it’s not like I have nothing to read, I just haven’t been particularly inspired.

I do have some fun posts planned (the library feature and special returning guests!) as well as a lot of reviews to catch up on, but we’re back to our school-induced hiatus, intermittent and unpredictable schedule.

This upcoming weekend is Thanksgiving here in Canada and though I’ll be working, I’m hoping to celebrate on the Monday. One of my roommates just moved here so I’m hoping to pick up some quintessential Thanksgiving treats as she wants the full Canadian experience.

For those of you who celebrate Thanksgiving, whether in Canada or elsewhere, what’s a must-have on your dinner table?

  1. This is my first time being alone on Thanksgiving, so I have just planned a small meal of two pies from my favorite pie shop (one turkey and cranberry and one pumpkin!), corn, and mashed potatoes. I do love turkey though and can’t wait for my Mom to cook me one at Christmas, haha. Happy Thanksgiving! 🍁🍽

  2. I feel you about pleasure reading falling to the wayside when the study schedule and classes kick back in. Hopefully we will both be able to squeeze in one or two reads at the edges! And I am much happier to hear that things are looking up and you’re able to figure out everything with the busy-ness and the chaos. You got this 😉
